Orchard Park and Canal, Sacramento

As we move from Natomas Oak park we get our first view of the canals. There are apartment complexes to one side. This path is pretty well traveled because there is a school on the other side of the canal that you will cross a bridge to access.

There are plenty of shade trees along the canal.

Depending on the time of year the water is partially covered by plant life.

The water is several feet deep. My dog fell in to one of these and I had to wade in to fish her out. A less than pleasant experience for everyone.

The railing along this bridge is too high to get a good pose/photo from off the bridge. But there are still opportunities for photos.

The view of the canal from the bridge railing.

There is a nice large soccer field and softball diamond.

Something a little less common for parks in the area is the skate ramps seen below.

There is a canopy that covers a nice large area where you can eat lunch. You can see tennis courts in the background. There are plenty of backdrops for photos in this park.

This is actually a pretty nice park. The traffic is very light. The proximity to a school means that the park is well patrolled by police. This keeps out some of the less savory people.

Bring a camera and a fishing rod.
