I have had the idea to create some different forms of content. Streaming on to Youtube and Twitch are possible ways of making money. With Twitch you basically show yourself playing a video game and people watch you. With Youtube you talk or perform either live or in a recording and people watch that. In both ways you make money by generating views and follows.
I have purchased three pieces of equipment and briefly worked with the software developed for all of them. I will be providing a in depth review of each in the coming weeks.
Hardware:
AT2020US+ 129.99
Logitech C922x Pro Stream Webcam 87.98
Initial feelings.
Windows apparently had an update recently and it made using basically anything besides a pair of speakers a clusterfuck. I have to go through an enormous amount of settings to figure out why nothing is working. And I am not sure that I have had a moment yet to point out just how much I HATE WINDOWS 10.
As it stands if I want to use the headset I need to plug it in. If I want to use the speakers on the desktop I have to unplug the headset. Why the fuck should I have to do that? I cannot just click a button to toggle on or off? Still trying to figure that out.
Using the desktop microphone with the webcam keeps the amount of headgear limited to my glasses- I prefer this for video. I have ordered a boom arm to mount to the desk. Background noise is atrocious. It is too hot not to have an a/c running. Need to examine options.
The webcam seems to be working great with OBS. Background replacement means that no one will see my dog licking herself while I'm playing. Mixed bag- that might be a negative to get people to watch me. Will experiment once I get this working.
