Where do I start? This is a very forgettable movie. Do not waste your money. Fallen Kingdom follows a trend of 'legacy killer' movies. I still think the last Toy Story was the worst. But watching sad gentle giant dinosaurs drown, burn to death, and be poisoned by gas is pretty bad. The island explodes too btw.
It was all just a bit much. Weaponized laser raptors, volcanoes, cloned children, Chris Pratt trying to form a coherent thought. It was just boring. And spoiler- at the end they just let the dinosaurs out to run a muck throughout the entire Earth apparently.
It does not even feel like a great story. They set up the island to explode and re-extinct all the troublesome dinos. But they throw that story-line out within the first half hour. It ends up following the story-line of Taken complete with a dinosaur slave auction scene. Pratt has to save his pet raptor. There is not a single memorable character.
Somehow as of today the movie has made $800mm. $400mm of that is from the US and $250mm is from China. I don't recall any Asian person actually dying in this movie and I do remember one of the main 'bad guy' buyers was Asian. There was not exactly the sort of inclusion we are seeing in Star Wars. But I guess that paired with CGI dinos was enough to win them over. Perhaps they are all Jeff Goldblum fans. For his whole 3 minutes of screen time.
